From January 1, 2025, units 3 and 4 of the TPP “ContourGlobal Maritsa East 3” will be operational

"From January 1, 2025, units 3 and 4 of the TPP "ContourGlobal Maritsa East 3" will be operational and will contribute to maintaining the balance and security of our power system until the end of March. According to our assessment, both units are in good technical condition". This was stated by the Minister of Energy Vladimir Malinov during his visit to the plant. According to him, this will significantly reduce the potential for importing electricity from neighboring markets.

According to the minister, options are being worked out to increase the state share in the TPP "ContourGlobal Maritsa East 3" from July 1, 2025. Currently, the National Electricity Company EAD (NEK) owns a 27% stake in the plant. "In a constructive dialogue with our colleagues, we have reached an agreement between the shareholders of NEK and the majority owner to draw a roadmap for the long-term operation of the plant. The state's participation will be increased through NEK or another company from the BEH group, both as a shareholder and as the operational management of units 3 and 4 at ContourGlobal," he added.
