ESO launched a feasibility study for the construction of the East-West Energy Corridor
The directors of the US Trade and Development Agency (USTDA), Enoh T. Ebong, and the Bulgarian Electricity System Operator, Angelin Tsachev, signed a grant agreement for the feasibility study activities for the East-West energy corridor at a dedicated ceremony in the Granite Hall at the Ministerial Council.
The U.S. Trade and Development Agency grant will fund studies of the project initiated by the Bulgarian Electricity System Operator to build a new energy corridor connecting the electricity grids of Bulgaria, Greece, Turkey, North Macedonia, Kosovo, Albania and Montenegro, with the possibility of reaching Italy.
The East-West Energy Corridor project aims at enhancing the cross-border transmission capacity and the real-time green energy exchange capacity of the regional grid. The implementation of this project will contribute to improving the electricity transmission infrastructure and energy security of the countries in the Southeastern Europe.
